This Slazenger \u2018Queens Junior\u2019 wooden tennis racket dates from Victorian times.<\/p>\n

Tennis became a popular sport during the Victorian era among the middle and upper classes. The game has been played for centuries, but it was during the nineteenth century that it was standardised. Tennis was seen as a healthy and acceptable activity for young women as well as men. Consequently, it was played at fashionable resorts and spas.<\/p>\n

This tennis racket was given to Nairn Museum by Ms Alison MacDonald of Nairn.<\/p>\n
