Walking Boots
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Glencoe Folk Museum<\/b><\/h1>\n

[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]These walking boots would be considered essential for anyone enjoying the mountainous terrain in Glencoe and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

They belonged to a Mrs Robinson, originally Katherine Clayson MacFarlane. Her husband, Rev Archibald Eneas Robertson, is generally regarded as being the first person to climb all the Munros. This term refers to all the mountains in Scotland over 3000 feet in height \u2013 named after Sir Hugh Munro who compiled a list of 283 Munros, published in 1891, including the highest, Ben Nevis. <\/p>\n

Katherine likely wore these boots when she accompanied her husband up his last Munro in 1901.
