Wigs were first worn during the reign of King Charles II when they were essential for members of polite society, including judges and lawyers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comfortaa; font-weight: normal; font-size: large;\">Whilst the fashion for wig-wearing has long passed, it remains in the courtroom to this day, where judges can still be seen wearing them. Bob-wigs like this one were introduced in the 1780s, and is made from horse hair.
