This cigarette lighter belonged to a Private Tommy Fraser from the First Battalion Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. He was stationed in France during World War Two.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The lighter is reported to have saved his life when he was struck by a bullet. Fraser suffered only a broken rib as a result of the impact.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many examples of objects that are claimed to have saved the lives of a soldier during war. Smoking was a common habit at this time and many men would have carried smoking paraphernalia.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
