An excellent example of original Pictish knotwork, this detailed carved stone was found in a steading (or farmstead) at Tarbat Old Manse in 1999.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One face of the stone features an intricate square key pattern and the other shows an interlaced panel of spirals.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many Pictish designs have been found across the north half of Scotland. The name Picts, meaning painted people, was given to them by the Romans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
