Many such large stones have been found across northern Scotland. The name Picts, meaning painted people, was given to them by the Romans.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: Comfortaa; font-weight: normal;\">This stone was used as a grave marker for a monastic grave &#8211; the grave of a monk or nun.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: Comfortaa; font-weight: normal;\">Although produced by the Picts, this stone was reused in the twelfth century.
