This Pictish stone gives us important information about people we know as the Picts. Many such large stones have been found across northern Scotland. The name Picts, meaning painted people, was given to them by the Romans.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This stone was used as a grave marker for a monastic grave – the grave of a monk or nun.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although produced by the Picts, this stone was reused in the twelfth century. It was discovered in the foundations of St Colman’s Church in Tarbat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
