There have been settlements along the north coast of Scotland for many centuries, motivated in large part due to the opportunities to fish here.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This fish box stencil was for R Spears & Co West Coast Kippers, a company based in Thurso, and has its own unique design.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During Victorian times, fish were boxed in ice and branded at the harbour so that the contents could be identified once they reached market.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
