Dr John Pyle, known as Jack, was born in Portmahomack in 1895, the eldest child of the village doctor.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Like his father, he also studied medicine. During the First World War, he fought with the Highland Light Infantry, however he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in the Second World War. Together with his wife, Dr Dorothy Rankin, they provided over 60 years of medical service to the residents of the Tarbat peninsula.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This catheter set belonged to Jack and would have been used to inject or drain fluids and gases. Catheters can also allow access for other surgical instruments, or perform a wide variety of tasks, depending upon the catheter type. These are probably urethral catheters used to treat urinary infections.
