This skipping rope has been cleverly fashioned out of bobbins!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the start of the twentieth century, children had access to far fewer toys than the children of today. The start of the First World War, in particular, caused a toy shortage as factories, materials, and labour were all needed for the war effort.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many toys had to be handmade and improvised. Simple materials such as wood, rope and everyday household materials were very common.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
