This object gives us an insight into daily life for farming communities. It is a wooden device used for scaring birds.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When the handle is spun, a loud noise is created when the wooden strip hits the cogs. They were commonly used by children who were given the task of scaring birds to prevent them consuming seed after it was sown. Communities depended upon a good crop to feed their families and earn a living.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
