Commando Uniform
West Highland Museum

This military uniform was worn by the commandos, elite forces trained to the highest standards of combat.

In 1942, the training centre at Achnacarry Castle in the West Highlands ensured that their history was part of Highland history too. The men were part of a special strategy to defeat the Nazis. Their training was often gruelling and included live ammunitions, resulting in some accidental casualties too.
