‘Corrag’ by Susan Fletcher
Glencoe Folk Museum

‘Corrag’, also known as ‘Witch Light’, is an important novel set in Glencoe. This copy is signed by the author, Susan Fletcher, who lived in the village for some years whilst researching and writing it.

The novel focuses on the local folklore character of Corrag, a ‘witch’ said to have predicted the Massacre of Glencoe.

Susan Fletcher’s work often explores female characters and she is very interested in the role of women on the periphery of historic events, as is the case in this book. She won the 2004 Whitbread First Novel Award, the Authors’ Club award and the Betty Trask Prize for her first novel, ‘Eve Green’.
