This watch belonged to Jean Burgess who was born in Grantown-on-Spey in 1909. She worked in Grantown Post Office from the age of fourteen until 1941 when she moved south to help with the war effot. After the war, she married Kenneth John Lugg, a sugar engineer. She travelled widely and even experienced the Cuban revolution in the 1950s first hand. Her wedding photograph has a bullet hole resulting from a gun battle right outside her house in Soledad. The watch was given to her for service to the Grantown post office.
