Lightouse Sundial
Gairloch Museum

This brass sundial would have sat on a pedestal within the perimeter wall on the south side of Rubh Reidh lighthouse.  It is regulation issue and is engraved with the name of the lighthouse, its coordinates, and the makers Adie and Son of Edinburgh.

Lighthouses depended on accuracy and were therefore well provisioned with clocks and sundials to help ensure the lamps were lit and extinguished at the precise times required.
