Land Girl Figurine
Nairn Museum
Coalport land girl figurines like this one were created to acknowledge the important role that land girls played during the Second World War. It’s part of a series of figurines known as ‘For King and Country’, including a soldier, sailor and airman.
‘Land girls’ is the name given to the women who worked on farms and in agriculture to help ensure the country’s food supply. They had many responsibilities, including ploughing fields, planting crops and caring for livestock.
They were produced in a limited edition of 1500 and are now a collectible item for those interested in World War Two memorabilia and history.
