Shop Till
Grantown Museum

This highly decorative shop till from a shop on Grantown High Street. The beautifully made embellishments on this till would have reflected the wealth of the shop.

The buttons on the till show the pre-decimal system. Before Britain moved the decimal system that we use today in 1971 (pounds and pence), money was much more complicated.

Currency included shillings, farthings, ha’pennies, pennies, pounds, and florians! Which ones can you see on the till?
