Film Strips Battery Projector

This handheld projector from the 1950s would have been considered hi-tech when it first became available to buy.
It was battery operated, making it mobile for use anywhere. However, in the 1950s, batteries were much bigger and heavier – the battery required to run this projector was almost as big as the projector itself!
Film strips were placed in the front of the projector, which had a light inside. Next, the projector was pointed at a wall, displaying the projected images of the film strip onto the wall. The film strips accompanying this projector show images relating to Donald Duck, the Royal Family, and Black Beauty.
